What to Eat Now
What to Eat Now
What to Eat Now is a six-part series, broadcast on BBC Two and presented by chef Valentine Warner. The basic message behind the series is that people should eat food that is in season. The series has covered autumnal foods, both meats such as rabbit and pigeon, and fruits and vegetables and fungi, including apples, pears, pumpkins, chicory, beetroot and truffle as part of the series. The programme was first broadcast on 15 September 2008. In looking at apples, the show visited Benedictine monks, and talked about how they could find the best apples to make a dish called "apple charlotte". In looking at beetroot, the show visited a farmer who practiced biodynamic farming, believing that the phases of the moon could affect plant growth. The show travelled to Lindisfarne to illustrate mussel catching. Warner has also published two books entitled "What to Eat Now" and "What to Eat Now - More Please!" to accompany the series'. A second series was broadcast in 2009.

The first and second seasons followed volunteers from urbanized backgrounds as they use survival skills in the back-country of Alaska during the fall and winter. Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory is a United Kingdom television documentary series broadcast on Channel 4 in March 2008. Filmed in "fly-on-the-wall" style, it shows the efforts of Willie Harcourt-Cooze to establish a brand of 100% cacao chocolate in the UK. The series centres around "Willie" Harcourt-Cooze, assisted by his wife Tania Harcourt-Cooze née Coleridge, who aims to grow high quality cacao beans on his farm in Venezuela, and then process them in the UK into luxury chocolate products. A follow-up series, Willie's Chocolate Revolution: Raising the Bar, aired on Channel 4 over three consecutive nights, 7–9 April 2009. This followed Willie's attempt to introduce a high-cacao chocolate bar, "Delectable", in the British market.

Hopkins is a seven-part documentary TV series set at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, a teaching hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. It premiered in the United States on June 26, 2008, on ABC and is currently airing in syndication on the We TV Network. The theme for the show "So Much to Say" was written by songwriter Matthew Puckett. The series won a Peabody award. Created as a real-life adjunct to the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy, it follows the professional lives of hospital caregivers and their patients. The show is a follow-up to the ABC Special Hopkins 24/7, from 2000. Boston Med, which aired on ABC in June–August 2010, was produced by the same team behind Hopkins.

Around the World in 80 Gardens was a television series of 10 programmes in which British gardener and broadcaster Monty Don visited 80 of the world's most celebrated gardens. The series was filmed over a period of 18 months and was first broadcast on BBC Two at 9.00pm on successive Sundays from 27 January to 30 March 2008. A book based on the series was also published. The title of the series was a reference to Jules Verne's novel Around the World in Eighty Days and is a spiritual successor to Dan Cruickshank's earlier television series, Around the World in 80 Treasures, first broadcast in 2005.

It was created by the team who made In the Shadow of the Moon in association with NASA to commemorate the agency's fiftieth anniversary in 2008. Starring long-time Alaska resident Geo Beach, the program explored the dangerous and extraordinary efforts put forth by Alaskans to perform jobs and provide services in such a remote, large, rugged, and hostile place. Animal Cops: South Africa is an American documentary reality television series that premiered on June 6, 2008 on Animal Planet. The program depicts cases that are handled and investigated by the Cape of Good Hope SPCA in and around Cape Town, South Africa. They handle any animal from pit bulls to Egyptian geese. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is a community-run NGO and is a member of the NSPCA. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA became part of the Animal Cops show after Animal Planet commissioned a South African version of the series, based on Animal Precinct, Animal Cops Houston, Animal Cops Detroit, and more. The Inspectorate is based on a National Training program in South Africa provided and certified by the NSPCA and each inspector is authorized by the District Magistrates to investigate and intervene in animal cruelty complaints as well as educate on proactive initiatives. Their stance against animal cruelty has landed them the international focus with Animal Cops, highlighting the plight of animals within South Africa. All SPCAs are dependent solely on public donations, funding and receive no financial support from the South African Government, has no political ties and receives very little support from the national lottery.
