Synopsis
When a house no longer feels like home, homeowners are left with a big financial and emotional question: renovate or sell it? Love It or List It helps fed-up homeowners decide. In each hour-long episode Realtor David Visentin and designer Hilary Farr compete for the homeowners' final decision to stay or go.
Episode 13 : Quaint Coastal Cottage

Four years ago, Jeff and Paige discovered a beautiful beach community and instantly fell in love with it. So when a beach house became available, they jumped on it and downsized. They tolerated the small, two-bedroom vacation home until their third child was born, but now the house is bursting at the seams. From the lack of space in the kitchen to the tiny living room cluttered with children's toys, Paige thinks it's time to move on to a more suitable home for their family. Here to save the day are experts designer Jillian and realtor Todd. Jillian's team will take this cramped cottage and try to transform it into a functional family retreat, while Todd believes he can redefine the serenity of coastal living with a new home. Desperate to stay in their beautiful beach community but fed up with the vacation home that was never meant for year round living, Jeff and Paige will have to decide: will they love their home again or will they list it?

Mike and Linnea bought this house five years ago so they could raise their active family near the mountains. Being surrounded by parks and plenty of green space is exactly what their family wanted. But with so much time spent playing outside, sporty Dad hasn't gotten around to tackling any of the projects inside the house. From some missing carpet in the master bedroom, to the dark and dingy basement bathroom, Linnea can't seem to get past all of her home's issues. To keep this clashing couple from going ten more rounds, enter rivals designer Jillian and realtor Todd. Jillian and her team will try to turn this haphazard house into a comfortable family home that makes room for Mom, while Todd tries to sell them on another house that meets all of their needs. Jillian and her team will try to turn this '30s bungalow into a comfortable new living and entertaining space, while Todd tries to sell them a new home that suits an active life style. Stuck with a tiny house that is sabotaging their social life, Carolyn and Jeff will have to decide: will they love their home again or will they list it?

Franny and Salim bought this tranquil five bedroom family home in 1986, more than fourteen years after leaving East Africa for a new life. Although it was an ideal home for raising their family, there are now four grown adults living in the home because their daughters Alysha and Alyah have yet to move out. Franny doesn't want to give up on their home full of memories, but the rest of the family thinks it's time to move on. The girls are fed up with not having any personal space and there's only one usable bathroom for everyone to share... Enter competitors Jillian and Todd. Designer Jillian and her team will transform this crowded house into a relaxing space for the entire family, while Todd feels he can find all the breathing room they need in another home. When all is said and done, Franny, Salim, Alysha, and Alyah will have to decide... will they love their home again or will they list it?
Episode 7 : Battle for Bedrooms

David and Geneva bought their fixer-upper in search of more room for their growing family. But four years later, the renovations are still not completed and Geneva is fed up. David, on the other hand, thinks all the house needs is a little more work and it could be the perfect home for their now family of four. But one of the main problems with the house starts at the front door... if you can even find it. The home's address is on one street, but their "front entrance" is on another street. On top of that, much of the home is cold, and there's a lack of privacy--the kids' room is attached to the master bedroom. Fed up with the dysfunctional layout that lacks a proper front entrance, David and Geneva call upon experts Jillian and Todd for some much needed solutions. Jillian and her design team will transform their house into an open concept oasis, while Todd will convince the family it's time for a new home. In the end, will they love it or list it?

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is an American reality television series providing home improvements for less fortunate families and community schools. The show is hosted by former model, carpenter and veteran television personality Ty Pennington.
Each episode features a family that has faced some sort of recent or ongoing hardship such as a natural disaster or a family member with a life-threatening illness, in need of new hope. The show's producers coordinate with a local construction contractor, which then coordinates with various companies in the building trades for a makeover of the family's home. This includes interior, exterior and landscaping, performed in seven days while the family is on vacation and documented in the episode. If the house is beyond repair, they replace it entirely. The show's producers and crew film set and perform the makeover but do not pay for it. The materials and labor are donated. Many skilled and unskilled volunteers assist in the rapid construction of the house.
EM:HE is considered a spinoff of Extreme Makeover, an earlier series providing personal makeovers to selected individuals, which the Home Edition has now outlasted. This show displays extreme changes to help recreate someone's space. However, the format differs considerably; in the original Extreme Makeover, for instance, participants were not necessarily chosen based on any recent hardship, whereas the family's backstory is an important component of Home Edition. EM:HE also has similarities to other home renovation series such as Trading Spaces, on which Pennington was previously a key personality.
