Trailer Synopsis

Magilla Gorilla is an anthropomorphic gorilla who spends his time languishing in the front display window of Melvin Peebles' pet shop, eating bananas and being a drain on the businessman's finances.

After Punkin’ Puss kicks Mushmouse out to watch his favorite show. Mushmouse decides to write the star, hoping he'll teach Punkin’ Puss how to treat mice. When Punkin’ Puss refuses to follow the Hero’s advice, Mushmouse and Super Dooper beat up on Punkin’ Puss. It is only after Super Dooper gets a movie deal that Punkin’ Puss' able to resume feuding.

Ricochet gets news that Ghost Town Gus is robbing a stagecoach. He is unsuccessful in catching him at the scene, so they chase him to the nearby Ghost Town to arrest him. When it looks like Ghost Town Gus is going to win, the ghost of Ricochet’s granddaddy comes to the rescue.

Tired of Magilla always getting into trouble at the pet store, Mr. Peebles decides to donate him to the city zoo. However, when the gorilla begins to wreak so much havoc at the zoo with his interpretation of the rules, the man in charge of the zoo calls Mr. Peebles and demands that he take Magilla back or else.

Mushmouse gets a visit from his cousin, he and Punkin’ Puss get off on the wrong foot. Bat Mouseterson quickly wears out his welcome in Punkin’ Puss’ eyes and he tries to get the mouse to go home. When that day comes, Mushmouse uses his cousin’s ways to beat up Punkin’ Puss, but finds out that Punkin’ Puss is trying the same thing.

Slowpoke Sloane plans to be as fast as Ricochet, to get revenge. Ricochet discovers that the he has become so fast that he can evade the law with his potion. Ricochet and Droop-a-Long trail Sloane to his hideout and discover the secret to his bursts of speed and take him back to prison.

Magilla can’t resist sitting on Mr. Peebles’ motor bike and accidentally takes it for a joyride through the city. After being chased around the city by Mr. Peebles, Magilla is saved by a helicopter pilot. Magilla then goes on another joyride when he gets in the helicopter and turns on the controls.

As Punkin’ Puss chases Mushmouse around the hills, Punkin’ Puss continually makes the resident bear angry by waking him up from his naps. Realizing that he can use this to his advantage, Mushmouse decides to use the bear’s brute strength to get the upperhand in their feud.

While Ricochet is playing ping pong with himself, he gets a call that Cactus Calvin is going to rob the circus, Ricochet and Droop-a-Long keep an eye on things while the Colonel goes to town. Cactus Calvin decides to dress up as the circus’ main attraction, Clunko in order to get past Ricochet and his deputy. After chasing the real Clunko for a while, Ricochet discovers what Cactus Calvin did and tries to take the bad guy to jail.

When Ogee goes to see Magilla at Mr. Peebles' pet store, the gorilla begins telling her numerous fairy tales; one of which involves a beautiful princess having to kiss a homely animal to turn him into her Prince Charming.

Tired of Punkin’ Puss beating up on him, Mushmouse learns judo so he can defend himself. When that doesn’t work, he gets a boxing Kangaroo as his bodyguard. Not realizing that Mushmouse bought a kangaroo, Punkin’ Puss thinks that his workout has worked, and tries judo, to squash his feuding friend.

Ricochet is challenged to a duel. While he is waiting for his opponent, Droop-a-long gets knocked out by a brick that has a note saying that while Ricochet was dumb enough to believe his first note, he's going to rob the bank. Ricochet arrives back in time to go after the robber and are soon chased by an unexpected visitor.

While jogging, Magilla runs into aliens who ask him to go for a ride. Arriving on the alien’s planet, doctors there run tests on Magilla to see how easy it will be to take over Earth. When the aliens take Magilla home, he explains where he was, but has his mouth washed out when Mr. Peebles doesn’t believe him.

After Punkin’ Puss beats Mushmouse in his most recent game, Punkin’ Puss discovers that it’s “Catch as cat can day,” he has to spend his time running away from Suzy McStump instead of feuding. Realizing that if Punkin’ Puss gets caught and has to marry her, Mushmouse can relax in his mouse hole, so he decides to help Suzy.

While searching in the desert, Ricochet and Droop-a-Long come across the city of Desperado, they masquerade as bad guys to find Scattergun in the outlaw town. When Scattergun tells them to get lost, Ricochet and Droop-a-Long come to the conclusion that they’ll have to become bad guys for a short amount of time in order to get him to turn himself in.

After Mr. Peebles goes home, Magilla begins reading a story about Cinderella and soon wishes he had a Fairy Godmother like in the story. Not long after he says that, Magilla’s own Fairy Godmother arrives at the pet store and grants him three wishes.

Tired of Punkin’ Puss always chasing him, Mushmouse orders a mechanical dog to protect him. Not wanting to be outsmarted, Punkin’ Puss tries to get rid of the dog and after a few tries, Punkin’ Puss is able to get rid of the dog once and for all and promptly starts feuding with Mushmouse again.

Following the release from prison, a crook decides to return to town, seeking revenge on Ricochet Rabbit. As a result, the crook decides to dress up as the sheriff and begins holding up the town’s bank, stagecoach, and train. After getting arrested, Ricochet asks Droop-a-long for help in escaping so he can clear his good name.

When Ogee’s father refuses to buy Magilla, she runs away. Before going to Hollywood to get a job that will pay her enough to buy the gorilla, Ogee stops by the Pet Store to tell Magilla goodbye. Realizing that she could get hurt by herself, Magilla decides to follow Ogee and talks her into going back home.

When Punkin’ Puss and Mushmouse are feuding around the countryside; they come to a “No Trespassing” sign. The new cat decides to keep Mushmouse and Punkin’ Puss decides to declare war on the cat. When the cats realize that Mushmouse is pitting them against the other, they decide to call a truce and team up.

As Droop-a-Long practices catching bad guys, Half-Pint Pinto decides after seeing a sign for the circus, he's determined to steal an elephant. When the circus promoter calls about his stolen elephant, Ricochet and Droop-a-Long begin their chase, to bring the elephant back and the outlaw to justice.

A group of party goers walk by the store and see Magilla. Mistakenly thinking he is going to the same party, the group decides to take Magilla with them. While there, Magilla begins to dance with a wealthy woman and continually bungles a pair of crooks attempts to steal her jewels.

Annoyed at how Mushmouse is putting their feuding on hold for a date, Punkin’ Puss gets so mad that he decides to shoot at him as Mushmouse walks to Hunnybun’s house. After Honey Bun tells Mushmouse to stand up for himself , he is reluctant to do so, that is, until Honey Bun gives him some “incentive.”

After a local rancher has problems in keeping a nearby swindler, El Loco Lobo, away from his herd, he turns to Ricochet and Droop-A-Long for help. Following a few run-ins, it looks like El Loco Lobo will get away with the stealing. However, when he makes it over the Mexican border, he gets caught by Ricochet’s cousin, Ricochet Chavez.

Tiring of how many bananas Magilla eats, Mr. Peebles sells him to a scientist “for his brain.” However, when Magilla discovers that he wants to experiment on how a pigeon reacts to having gorilla characteristics and vice verse, he escapes and make his way back to the pet shop.

When Punkin’ Puss reads about a scientist looking for experiment mice. Through the experiment, Mushmouse becomes invisible and returns to wreak havoc. Punkin’ Puss thinks his conscious is seeking revenge.

After Ricochet teaches Droop-a-Long his quick draw, they have to bring in a group of truants. Realizing they can charge Dastardly Dalton for playing hooky, they promptly get to work on bringing him in. After several attempts, Ricochet finds a way to bring him to school and discover they never finished school either.

Mr. Peebles has a special sale at his store, Ogee is interested in buying Magilla. After paying a penny for him, Ogee has to find a way to tell her parents. When her father sees Magilla, he thinks he’s seeing things and her mother starts hitting Magilla with a rolling pin. After they find out that she wanted Magilla for a pet, they let her visit him at the pet store whenever she wants.

Punkin’ Puss chases Mushmouse around; they get involved in the Army’s annual war games when Mushmouse decides to get the Army to help him feud Punkin’ Puss. As a result, Punkin’ Puss does his best to get away, but is unsuccessful in his attempts and decides to give up.

Ricochet and Droop-Along hear that Buzzard Bates, is coming to seek revenge. Ricochet puts together a posse to keep Bates from causing trouble. Buzzard arrives dressed as an old woman, Ricochet tries to figure out why she wants to stay far away from him after someone robs the bank. After some investigating, Ricochet discovers that the woman is really Buzzard and gets help from a local club.

When a scientist asks Mr. Peebles to store an anti-gravity formula, Magilla drinks it. Magilla floats around while Peebles follows in an attempt to catch him and get an antidote. An ad agency wants to hire Magilla to float around to help promote a new product, the formula wears off.

While traveling, a lion falls out of his train and gets a thorn in his paw. He screams, Mushmouse comes and helps. The lion promises to help him if he can get some food. While getting the lion food, Punkin’ Puss attacks to show off for his girlfriend. The lion starts attacking Punkin’ Puss, who's so scared that he jumps on the train to get far away.

A team wanting to make a movie on a budget, using a real sheriff in a real town. Ricochet recommends Bullhead Buller as the robber, he gets in a spot when he really robs the bank. Ricochet re-captures Bullhead, the movie producer talks him into letting him out to finish, but if he escapes again, the producer has to finish his sentence.

A director has a hard time finding a gorilla for his movie. At first Magilla is ecstatic to be starring in a movie, but after being attacked, he tells the director the only way he will stay in the movie is if they continue filming at his home in the pet shop.

Mushmouse is feeling sorry for himself when his cousin comes for a visit. After Punkin’ Puss takes his nap, the cousins decide to let Megaton beat him up. Punkin’ Puss thinks that Mushmouse finally got the best of him, he decides to leave. However, when he realizes the two were playing a trick on him, Punkin’ Puss stays in the hills to exact his revenge.

Ricochet gets a letter that he suspects will involve a typical crime to solve. He discovers that Rocky Rattler kidnapped a widow for ransom, Droop-a-Long and Ricochet make pests of themselves trying to save her from the bad guy. As a result, Rocky Rattler turns himself in, and gets reformed.

Magilla is sold to a pair of robbers that ask him to break in to a nearby bank. When the police arrive, the robbers try to flee with out Magilla and are caught when he jumps into the back of the getaway car. After receiving an award for the capture, Magilla returns home to the Pet Store.

While the two are feuding, Mushmouse finds a dog with his muzzle caught. After helping him, he offers to help if he ever gets caught in a situation. Punkin’ Puss tries to catch Mushmouse before he can call his new friend. “Stinky” offers to help Punkin’ Puss, things don’t go as planned when a moose mistakes the sound of Punkin Puss’ horn for a female. The four get chased through the hills by a love-sick moose.

While guarding a safe, Ricochet and Droop-a-Long find a baby at their door. Unaware that the “baby” is the Cactus Kid, they take him in. It doesn’t take long for the Cactus Kid to try and steal the safe, but is stopped by the sheriff. When Ricochet realizes that the baby is really the Cactus Kid, he thinks of the perfect way to rehabilitate him.

In an attempt to finally get rid of Magilla, Mr. Peebles sends him to join the army. There, he is assigned to a special task after impressing his leaders, taking a rocket to the moon!

Mushmouse decides to sneak into the kitchen for a snack. When he opens the door to the icebox, he discovers that Punkin’ Puss patiently waiting for him. Mushmouse turns to a spell book to grow as big as Punkin’ Puss. The formula has the opposite effect and shrinks Punkin’ Puss to his size. Mushmouse decides to wreak havoc on his cat friend.

When Daddy Mumbleweed is teaching his son how to be a really good bad guy; he's flabbergasted when Ricochet and Droop-a-Long always are able to stop him from robbing. It isn’t until Ricochet arrests him that Daddy Mumbleweed discovers it was his son who helped in his capture.

Tired of continually losing football games, a coach buys Magilla for his team. After becoming the star player the team is on its way to a winning season, but when an opponent discovers Magilla’s favorite food, they use that information to defeat the team. As a result, Magilla gets sent back to the pet store.

After getting tired of feuding with Punkin’ Puss, Mushmouse decides to call in his cousins to help get the upper-hand. At first Punkin’ Puss is confused at how Mushmouse is able to outsmart him, but when he discovers that Mushmouse called his “kin” to help him out, Punkin’ Puss decides to call in his family to help him out.

When a banker finds out that robber Sam Jose plans on robbing the train, calls in Ricochet and Droop-a-Long for help. Deciding to disguise themselves as mailbags, thinking this is the best way to corner Sam Jose. After unsuccessful run-ins with the train robber, Ricochet promptly thinks of a way to get Sam Jose.

When Magilla is bought by a millionaire, he finds out that his new owner is a big game hunter, out to bag one last trophy. Magilla is able to trick the millionaire into thinking his butler is the gorilla he wants to hunt, and soon finds a way to get back to the safety of the pet store.

Yogi's Gang is a 30-minute animated series and the second incarnation of Hanna-Barbera's Yogi Bear which aired 16 half-hour episodes on ABC from September 8, 1973, to December 29, 1973. The show began as Yogi's Ark Lark, a special TV movie on The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie in 1972. Fifteen original episodes were produced for broadcast on ABC, with the hour-long Yogi's Ark Lark thrown in as a split-in-half two-parter. After a successful run on Saturday mornings, Yogi Gang returned in 1977 as a segment on the syndicated weekday series, Fred Flintstone and Friends. In the late 1980s, repeats were shown on USA Cartoon Express and later resurfaced on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

Joe animated series for television, and wrote all four miniseries.
