Whitney is an American sitcom that ran on NBC from September 22, 2011 to March 27, 2013. The series originally aired in the 9:30 pm /8:30 pm Thursday night timeslot. The show stars Whitney Cummings and is based on her real-life experience and her comedy routines. On September 25, 2011, the pilot of Whitney was multipurposed on various NBCUniversal networks, including Oxygen, E!, Style, and Bravo; it last aired on E!. On May 9, 2013, Whitney was canceled by NBC.

In an effort to reunite the bro-mance, Whitney, following advice from Lily (Zoe Lister-Jones) and Roxanne (Rhea Seehorn), arms herself with some Rocky Road and red wine and sets out to discover the real root of Mark's heartbreak.

The series was inspired by the 1986 film by Garry Marshall starring Tom Hanks and Jackie Gleason also entitled Nothing in Common in which Hanks played David Basner and Gleason protrayed Max Basner. Todd Waring later reprised another Tom Hanks role in a TV sequel to Splash for The Wonderful World of Disney called Splash, Too.
