Trailer Synopsis

In 1900, the surgeons and nurses at the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York push the boundaries of medicine in a time of high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. Chief surgeon Dr. John Thackery pioneers new methods in the field while harboring a severe cocaine addiction.

Cornelia and Edwards arrive at a crossroads; Barrow trades one creditor for another; Lucy requests Bertie’s help. With the Knick in the midst of yet another crisis, Robertson calls for a vote.

Gallinger despairs as Eleanor’s behavior becomes more erratic; Cornelia and Edwards proffer different solutions to a shared dilemma.

Cornelia, Speight and Bertie go to court in an attempt to keep “Typhoid Mary” Mallon quarantined. Gallinger tries to get Eleanor to move past her grief.

The stabbing of a cop by a black man stirs up racial tension on the street and in the Knick, forcing Thackery and Edwards to take action. Everett returns to work and a changed OR. Barrow fears for Junia’s safety. Cornelia is impressed with Edwards’ ingenuity and Lucy is escorted home.

Thackery entertains a salesman’s pitch; Everett considers how to help Eleanor with her grief; Barrow haggles over used merchandise. Edwards finds his clinic, and his career, in jeopardy after a surprise encounter.

Robertson addresses a typhoid-fever outbreak, Elkins is taken into Thackery's confidence and Sister Harriet breaks a taboo. Edwards finds an alternative way to perform his duties.

Medical Investigation was an American medical drama television series that began September 9, 2004, on NBC. It ran for 20 one-hour episodes before being cancelled in 2005. The series was co-produced by Paramount Network Television and NBC Universal Television Studio The former controls North American distribution rights, while the latter distributes outside North America. The series featured the cases of an elite team of medical experts of the National Institutes of Health who investigate unusual public-health crises, such as sudden outbreaks of serious and mysterious diseases. In actuality, medical investigative duties in the United States are normally the responsibility of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health departments, while the NIH is primarily a disease-research and -theory organization. The series existed in the same television universe as Third Watch and, by extension ER. A special two-part crossover event aired on February 18, 2005, establishing the television-universe connection by featuring the Third Watch and Medical Investigation teams working together in MI's Episode 17: "Half Life" and Third Watch's Episode 16 of the sixth season: "In the Family Way". The story was about a series of Marburg virus cases in New York.

Vietnam: The Ten Thousand Day War, a 26-part Canadian television documentary on the Vietnam War, was produced in 1980 by Michael Maclear. The series aired in Canada on CBC Television, in the United States and in the United Kingdom on Channel 4. Maclear visited Vietnam during the production of the series and had access to film material there. He was the first Western journalist allowed to visit that area since the war. The documentary series was consolidated into 13 hour-long episodes for American television syndication. The series was released on videocassette format by Embassy and won a National Education Association award for best world documentary. Series writer Peter Arnett was an Associated Press reporter in Vietnam from 1962 to 1975. CBC aired only 18 of the episodes during the 1980-81 season because the series production was incomplete. The remaining episodes were broadcast during CBC's 1981-82 season. British audiences saw the series during Channel 4's 1984-85 season.
