Trailer Synopsis

Moesha was an American sitcom series that aired on the UPN network from January 23, 1996 to May 14, 2001. The series stars R&B singer Brandy Norwood as Moesha Mitchell, a high school student living with her family in the Leimert Park neighborhood of South Central Los Angeles. It was originally ordered as a pilot for the CBS network's 1995-1996 television season, who rejected. It was then picked up by UPN, who aired it as a mid-season replacement. It went on to become the biggest success for the nascent network and one of the greatest hits over the course of the network's entire run.

Moesha is faced with the dilemma of going on tour with Q or staying at home with her family and boyfriend Hakeem. But Moesha and Hakeem have an argument over the fact that Hakeem only wants Mo to stay home so that she won't have to go on tour with Q. Hurt over the fact that her boyfriend Gabe broke up with her, Niecy finds comfort from Hakeem. But they get caught up in the moment and share a kiss, just as Moesha enters the room. Stunned and hurt, Moesha takes Q up on his offer and leaves with him for New York. Meanwhile, Dorian's involvement with Patience gets him in over his head, forcing Frank to make a tough decision by enrolling him into a boot camp.

Meanwhile, Frank gives Dorian the opportunity to work with him at his job, but later he gets arrested by the police for stealing a car from the Saturn lot and also with carrying $5,000.

Musical guest: DMX Moesha and Niecy go on a trip to Santa Barbara for their first spring break, but Moesha and Niecy's awaited trip is interrupted by the presences of two college students named Alicia and Joy who both end up in the same hotel room as Mo and Niecy after the hotel accidentally over-booked them. After Alicia sees Moesha dancing with her ex-boyfriend Rodney, she spreads a rumor that Moesha slept around in Santa Barbara. Meanwhile, Dorian has trouble writing a history paper but plans to pass by using one of Mo's old papers.

Moesha plays matchmaker for Theresa who's been having trouble meeting guys. So Mo decides to hook up Theresa with Hakeem's friend, Noel, but Mo thinks that Noel is just playing with Theresa's head. Meanwhile, Myles accidentally punches Dorian in the nose because of his unnecessary slurs towards Frank.

Frank is the honoree at a 'Businessman of the Year' banquet, but the tribute loses its luster when he learns that Moesha and Dorian don't want to go. After receiving vital advice, Moesha comes to her senses and forgives her father.

Sandy visits to find out why Frank told Dorian the secret and why he didn't wait as they both planned. Meanwhile, Moesha meets her new roommate, Theresa Logan, from Dillingham, Alaska.

Frank gets a call from his odd-ball aunt Hattie, announcing that she is in town and would like to visit the family. While Hakeem drops by to announce that he's been accepted to California University, Moesha tells the family that she will be moving because a dorm on campus has become available. Aunt Hattie surprisingly stops by that evening. After not seeing the family for years, she mistakes Dorian for Myles. Moesha clears up the mistaken identity. Aunt Hattie then congratulates Frank on finally bringing his son home. Her faux pas sends shock waves through the room since Frank has kept a lid on his secret all of Dorian's life. Frank has no choice but to explain that he and Marguerite were having some problems. He had an affair that resulted in Dorian's birth. His sister, Sandy, agreed to adopt Dorian. Moesha dreams that Hakeem kisses her when he comes over for breakfast in the morning. Moesha's feelings for Hakeem are tested when she, Niecy and Hakeem decide to share a cabin on a ski trip sponsored by the university. An angst-ridden Moesha confides in Niecy about the dream. Niecy, who's suspected all along that the two are secretly in love, tells her that dreams reveal one's true feelings. That night, Moesha dreams that Hakeem joins her in bed. This time, Moesha is so disturbed about the dream that she tells Niecy that she wants to cancel going to the mountains. Niecy forces her to talk to Hakeem because they won't be able to afford the trip if she backs out. Hakeem takes Moesha's dream lightly. Later that evening, Hakeem dreams that he goes to Moesha's house and passionately kisses her.

With Dee sick in bed, Moesha finds herself in a fierce Thanksgiving cooking competition with Mrs. Campbell. Also, Dorian's mother visits, but Dorian believes that she likes adjusting to her new life without him.

Moesha and Niecy's friendship is tested when Piper moves out and Moesha moves in. Moesha later becomes a bother to Niecy. Meanwhile, Dorian tries to get away with purchasing extra items on Frank's credit card and lying about it; leading to Frank to give Dorian a tough ultimatum.

Niecy tells the Mitchells that she heard a rumor that Andell is losing The Den. After stopping by The Den and learning that the result of the rumor was true, Moesha goes to Frank to see if they can do a fund-raiser to save The Den. A company called Biggs Mortuary plans to buy the property and replace The Den with a casket store. Moesha goes by to see Mrs. Biggs to appeal on behalf of The Den. During a farewell party, Moesha tells Andell that she has saved The Den. instead of being happy, Andell is angry. Moesha didn't realize that Andell really wanted to leave to do something different with her life. Andell is able to persuade Mrs. Biggs to buy The Den again. The next day, Moesha, Hakeem and Niecy help Andell move out her last few belongings before they say goodbye to one of the most important places of their lives.

Frank finds a case of birth control pills in the trash. He asks Dee why she's taking the pills when they're trying to have a baby. She tells him the pills are Moesha's. Frank is angry with Dee because she concealed the fact that Moesha started taking birth control pills. Dee tells Moesha that Frank knows about the pills. Moesha tries to apologize, but Frank's too angry to discuss the matter. Later, Andell comes by to find Frank alone. When he tells her about the pills, Andell relates his experience to one she had with her father. She questions whom Frank is trying to protect--Moesha or himself. Frank asks for Dee's forgiveness and apologizes to Moesha. Meanwhile, Moesha stands up for Dorian when he's wrongfully accused of stealing.
Episode 4 : Mis-Directed Study

Moesha lands a job tutoring athletes. She gets assigned to a promising NBA candidate named Ray Meadows. Ray has to write an English paper. Ray asks Moesha to finish the paper for him because he's too busy with practice and studying plays. Moesha agrees to write it, since they're friends. Dorian sees Moesha's writing Ray's paper and teases her, claiming that he uses the same game with girls at his school. Moesha reconsiders writing the paper and tells Ray that she can not do his paper for him. Upset, Ray tells her that he's not interested in a friendship with her if he can't benefit from it.

While trying to keep up with the social life of college as well as the academic life, Moesha and Niecy are invited to their first college party. After getting heavily drunk, Moesha's faced with having to call Frank to pick her up. But Dorian comes to the girls' rescue by secretly taking Frank's car. Meanwhile, Myles, influenced by Dorian to change his image, dyes his hair and wears baggy garment to impress his classmates during his first week of junior high.

Kasey, the former receptionist, has Moesha follow up on some incomplete messages she took. Niecy drops by Moesha's job because they've made plans to go to the movies. Moesha answers a phone call who happens to be Dr. Maya Angelou and decides to seize the moment to set up an interview with Dr. Maya Angelou as writer at the magazine. Moesha convinces Niecy to pretend to be her secretary. She then interviews Dr. Angelou in Joe's office. Dr. Angelou clues in on the fact that Moesha is hungry for recognition. Moesha confesses that she has decided to bypass college so she can work on her writing career. Dr. Angelou gives her a profound reason to reconsider college. Later, Joe praises Moesha on her writing, but apologizes that he will have to fire her for misrepresenting herself as staff writer. Moesha later tells her family that she has decided to go to college.

Musical guest: Mary J. Blige Moesha has decided to forego college since she's been offered a writing position at ""VIBE Magazine,"" a hip-hop journal. While her parents don't support her decision, her friends envy all the stars she'll meet at the magazine. However, it turns out that the position is not as a staff writer, but as a gopher. She's only submitting stories to the editor Joe Scott. Joe calls in the receptionist, Kasey, because she made a mistake on an important message from singer Baby Face. Everyone assumes Kasey will be fired, but she's surprisingly promoted to Marketing Director. Andrea, a co-worker, tells Moesha that Kasey probably slept with Joe to get the promotion, implying that Moesha may be propositioned too, since she's trying to become a staff writer.
