Trailer Synopsis

The Avengers is a British television series created in the 1960s. It initially focused on Dr. David Keel and his assistant John Steed. Hendry left after the first series and Steed became the main character, partnered with a succession of assistants. His most famous assistants were intelligent, stylish and assertive women: Cathy Gale, Emma Peel and Tara King. Later episodes increasingly incorporated elements of science fiction and fantasy, parody and British eccentricity.

The accidental death of a ventriloquist reveals that he had been carrying a fortune in gems inside his stomach. Steed stoops to blackmail and Emma goes shopping for ties in the search through the business community for a rich Borzoi.

A European peace conference comes under the threat of sabotage when the British delegates begin to suffer from premonitions and nightmares. After Sir Andrew Boyd, who has witnessd his death in a dream, is killed, Steed and Emma must keep his replacement, Lord Melford, sane and alive.

"The Frighteners," "Girl on the Trapeze" and the first twenty minutes of "Hot Snow" are the known episodes to exist of the first season. All the other episodes of season one were destroyed by the BBC in a bulk wipe, to which many classic shows have been lost [IE: Dr. Who, Dad's Army, The Spies, etc.) We do hope that the rest will pop up someday, somewhere, somehow...

The story revolves around the United States government engineering the perfect human body for use in espionage, but not being able to yet perfect the brain. In an attempt to get the project up and running, they take the brain of overweight family man Michael Wiseman, who is killed by a train. Given a new life, Michael is kept in an apartment where he is trained by government experts, led by Dr. Theodore Morris, in the art of espionage. Despite his new life and new abilities, Michael longs to return to his wife Lisa and daughter Heather, who are themselves discovering that not all is as it seems with Michael's death.
