Josephine Mendoza escapes the poverty in the Philippines and flees to Kuwait where she works as a maid. When she meets Rashid, a Kuwaiti aristocrat, they develop feelings for one another.

While Rashid's mother continually bullies Josephine, Rashid shows her nothing but love and tenderness. Josephine has some good news for Rashid, but his mother's outrage ruins it for them.

Rashid and Josephine return home with a new family member, hoping that it will soften Ghanima's heart. When they are met with anger, Rashid arranges for his wife and newborn child to leave.

Eissa, now an adult, returns to Kuwait in order to meet his father's family, but he is not welcomed.

Ghanima refuses to acknowledge Eissa as her grandson, but his aunt Hend and his father's friend Ghassan fight tooth and nail so that Eissa is recognized as Rashid's son

Eissa is welcomed by his aunt Hend and his half-sister when he goes to his father's home, but he is received coldly by his grandmother and his other aunts.

Eissa converts to Islam and plans to study it extensively. Ghanima remains steadfast in her refusal to let him into her house, as Hend discusses the problem of dual nationality on a TV program.

After an altercation with Ghassan, Ghanima kicks Eissa out, and she falls ill. Hend tries to find where Eissa is.

Just as he was planning to return to the Philippines, Eissa's grandmother decides to take him in, but he has to pretend to be a new chef at their house.

When he feels like a stranger in his grandmother's house, Eissa decides to return to Ghassan's place. In a phone call, he conveys his sense of estrangement to his beloved cousin Mirla.

Ghanima prohibits Eissa from entering his father's study. Hend has a tragic accident. Meanwhile, Noureyya decides not to list Eissa under Al-Tarouf's family name.

Hend decides to finish the paperwork that proves Eissa's paternity. Ghanima asks Eissa to leave when she finds him with his sister.

Just as he is permitted to dine with the family, a guest arrives and Eissa has to leave the table. However, he is welcomed into more social events.

As Ghanima decides to go on a vacation with her grandchildren, some problems arise from having Eissa with them.

Nour comforts her son Oweis and promises that she will ask Ghanima to consider wedding Oweis to Khawla. When Nour discovers that Eissa is a physiotherapist, she tries to convince Ghanima to allow him to help her with therapy, but Ghanima refuses.

Ghanima tries to get close to Eissa and establish a good relationship with him. Meanwhile, both Jaber and Oweis are trying to get Khawla to like them.

Nour is shocked when Jaber confesses that he has feelings for her, but she starts to believe him when he avoids Khawla all day. Nour gifts Eissa a turtle.

Jaber informs Khawla that he is leaving the country, and he is going to marry her when he returns. However, after a fight at home, he storms out and gets into a fatal accident.

Khawla feels tremendous guilt after the accident, and Eissa pulls all the stops to console her. The two sisters, Awatef and Noureyya are now at odds, and so are their children.

Eissa joins the family at the dinner table, to everyone's surprise. When Noureyya lies about him being a servant, Eissa gets upset and Nour tries to console him.

When Eissa is overcome with despair one night, Losaminda tries to comfort him. Nour's jealousy gets Losaminda fired so she tries to commit suicide. Khawla has a mental breakdown when she learns that Jaber is feigning his interest in her when he is actually in love with Nour.

Both Khawla and Losaminda recover. Khawla still holds a grudge against Nour.

The tentative peace between Ghanima and Eissa is disturbed when the former requests the latter of helping Jaber's mother. Eissa is informed that his cousin Mirla disappeared.

Grief settles upon the family when they learn of Rashid Al-Tarouf's martyrdom.

The whole situation changes after Rashid's death. Ghanima sees Eissa as a harbinger of bad luck and wants him out, but Eissa has already decided to leave.

Jaber's mother declares her desire for Jaber to marry Nour. But Nour refuses and declares that she is in love with Eissa. Upset by the declaration, Ghanima blacks out.

Eissa moves out with the help of his aunt Hend, but the problems he left behind still linger in the air.

Mirla comes over from the Philippines to stay and work with Eissa, but Eissa is arrested because he doesn't have the necessary documents.

Eissa has a serious quarrel with Ghassan. Mirla leaves Kuwait, and Eissa decides to follow her soon after some problems occur at his workplace.

Hend defies her mother and marries Ghassan. Khawla returns to her mother's house. Eissa returns to the Philippines where he marries Mirla and becomes a well-known author.
