Synopsis
Damien Trench is a neurotic cookery writer, living in Queen's Park with his partner, Anthony.
The show focuses on Damien and everything that happens to him both in and out of the kitchen, 'no matter how grizzly, or indeed, how gristly', as he writes his latest book, a diary of his life and culinary habits called In and Out of the Kitchen.
Each episode follows a few days in the life of Damien and his partner Anthony, their seemingly ever-present builders Mr Mullaney and Steven, and Damien's terrifying agent Iain.
Damien longs for a quiet life contemplating good food but also longs for perfection in all things, and his life has a habit of never quite working out the way he wants it to. While Damien's recipes always go to plan, his life never does...

Damien is hesitant to start a weekly column for Waitsbury's supermarket, but when his partner Anthony decides to take up a new spin on the 'cabbage soup' diet involving copious quantities of courgettes, Damien takes the job to rail against fad diets. Damien also has to bake a birthday cake for his builder Mr. Mullaney.

On Valentine's Day it is tradition that Anthony does all the cooking. It is also tradition that Damien cannot help but try to find out what what Anthony is cooking, much to Anthony's annoyance. Luckily, Mr. Mullaney has a way of stopping Damien's constant interruptions.

It is a spin-off series from The Cosby Show and originally centered on Denise Huxtable and the life of students at Hillman College, a fictional mixed but historically black college in the state of Virginia.
