Trailer Synopsis

That's Life is a musical comedy series that appeared on the ABC television network in 1968–69, starring Robert Morse and E. J. Peaker as Bobby and Gloria Dickson. The series focused on the lives of Bobby and Gloria, from their first meeting through their marriage, as their lives progressed, through Gloria's pregnancy and childbirth, as well as Bobby's work experiences at the Miller Chalk Company. Characters often broke into song, in the manner of musical plays and movies. Songs included well-known numbers and original tunes written for the program itself. Well-known stars often guest-starred in one-time roles. Kay Medford had a recurring role as Gloria's mother, Mrs. Quigley, who was often antagonistic to Bobby.

On the series premiere we learn how Robert Dickson met Gloria Quigley. The match was arranged by Cupid, George Burns, who first had to show Gloria how marriage to a dream ideal husband, Rodney Wonderful played by Tony Randall, would be dull, dull, dull. ""Our First Baby"" is a musical fantasy set in heaven's Baby Department. Robert and Gloria think they're expecting. The problem in heaven is that the baby dispatcher can't convince Robert, Jr. that it's time to be born. Meanwhile, back at home, Gloria gets the word about convention jaunts from a t.v. repairman, Norm Crosby, and decides to see for herself what Bobby's up to. Once at the hotel, Bobby learns that hypochondriacs make strange bedfellows; and is pestered by a veteran Florida vacationer, Henny Youngman; and finds relief when he is entertained by Little Anthony and the Imperials. Lead Balloon is a British television series produced by Open Mike Productions for BBC Four. The series was created and is co-written by comedian Jack Dee and Pete Sinclair. It stars Dee as Rick Spleen, a cynical and misanthropic comedian whose life is plagued by petty annoyances, disappointments and embarrassments. Raquel Cassidy, Sean Power and Tony Gardner also star. The first series of six episodes was broadcast on BBC Four in 2006, with the first episode achieving the highest ratings for a comedy on the channel. Repeats of the series were run on BBC Two and BBC HD, bringing it to a larger audience. A second series of eight episodes aired on BBC Two in November 2007, and a third series began airing in November 2008. A fourth and final series commenced broadcast on 31 May 2011 on BBC Two and ended on 5 July. Comparisons were made by critics to the successful American comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, and positive comments were made about Lead Balloon's characters, particularly Magda, the Eastern European housekeeper. The first series was released on DVD in November 2007. The show's theme tune is a cover version of "One Way Road", written by Noel Gallagher and performed by Paul Weller.
