American Reflexxx
American Reflexxx is a short film documenting a social experiment that took place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Alli Coates filmed performance artist Signe Pierce as she strutted down a busy oceanside street in stripper garb and a reflective mask. The pair agreed not to communicate until the experiment was completed, but never anticipated the horror that would unfold in under an hour. The result is a heart wrenching technicolor spectacle that raises questions about gender stereotypes, mob mentality, and violence in America.

Fobia Malam Pertama
The movie tells the tale of Asyraf and Zaty. Zaty is afraid to fall in love as she believes that because of a dark curse on her family when she falls in love and gets married she will die after giving birth to her first child. Asyraf on the other hand is a playboy who has returned from his studies in Indonesia and has been told by his father that he will need to get married to a virgin as it is family tradition. Asyraf is then enrolled into the same college as Zaty and thus begins a comedy of epic proportions as our two love birds have to deal with a scorned ex, a bomoh, over bearing in laws and how Zaty tries to save herself from getting pregnant on the first night!

With the aid of filming locals, however, Midi Z was able to compile this portrait. Getting rich quick turns out to be hard and risky work Jade has always been a valuable commodity in Asia. In the mountains in the north of Burma there are valuable deposits of jade. The area forms part of Kachin State, inhabited by many ethnic groups which found themselves embroiled in the Civil War in 2010 with the Burmese government. Jade mining was halted because of the conflict. Thousands of workers, however, went to the war zone in order to dig for illegal jade. It turned the region into a no-go area and the filmmaker Midi Z, who had so far made feature films in Burma, saw no opportunity to go and film there. It was far too dangerous. © iffr.com
