Remember Wilberg
A fire that started on December 19, 1984 claimed the lives of 27 miners at the Wilberg coal mine located in Emery County, Utah. 31 mine rescue teams from all over the West fought the fire and desperately looked for survivors but were forced from the mine after four days due to extreme danger. This video shares their stories and those of the miners and community members who lived through the events of the fire and the year-long struggle to reopen the mine and recover the victims. While it is specific to mining, it is a story of resilience, courage, and loss, and will be of value to any who work in hazardous jobs.

Solitaire
The found footage film SOLITAIRE is made from documentary film material of the late 1950s until 1972 from the archive of Hessian Rundfunk. We see Max Horkheimer buying newspapers, we hear Hannah Arendt talking about the mother tongue. We also see Frankfurt during the great construction boom of the sixties. We see demonstrations on the Römerberg and the presence of the Americans in the Federal Republic during the cold war. Housing shortages, urban development, youth, guest workers, consumer society: these topics are repeatedly seen in the Hessen Schau from these decades.

This documentary follows the daily lives of blind and deaf people: deaf-blind people living alone on Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture; a man in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, who chose to live in his community despite the earthquake and tsunami; a young man in Hiroshima who wants to be independent so that he can marry while continuing to practice judo; Professor Satoshi Fukushima of the University of Tokyo's Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology who became the first deaf-blind person to teach full-time at a university in the world.

The Month of Dreams

At the end of the film, the survivors need to face with dramatic encounters and special temptations. Their redemption under the leadership of Lame’s young son is the pledge for the future.
