My Father's War
My Father's War
My Father’s War, an animated documentary produced by Humanity in Action, brings to life the experiences of Peter Hein and his son David Hein. As a Jewish toddler in the Netherlands in the 1940s, Peter was separated from his parents and whisked from hiding place to hiding place to escape deportation. From feigning scarlet fever to avoid a Nazi raid, to suffering crippling injuries during a bombing campaign, Peter somehow survives, one day at a time, even as capture and death surround him. Meanwhile, the film also follows Peter’s parents, who themselves must make a series of daring escapes as their hiding places are revealed to Nazi forces by Dutch collaborators. By the end of the war, when Peter and his parents are finally reunited, Peter cannot even recognize them. “I just saw a strange man with long black hair and a little woman who was crying and trying to kiss me. I didn’t want anything from them,” Peter recalls in the film.

Without a Trace...
Golden autumn. Yakut hinterland. More than ten years have passed since the end of the Great Patriotic War. A 23-year-old boy named Mahees is given the task by the collective farm chairman to accompany the young teacher to a neighboring village. Aanchyk, that's the name of the girl, after completing her studies, she is assigned to work in a rural school. It would seem that a simple task turns into a real challenge for young people. A bear suddenly appears on their way. He pursues them. The heroes of the film understand that all this is happening to them for a reason. A chain of unusual meetings, strange finds, bitter memories, disturbing dreams and visions lead to the answer to the most important question in the life of the protagonist: who is his father and where did he disappear to?! After all, his father went to war, and never returned... Mehees understands that this is all connected with his father - a former hunter and now a missing soldier.

The film restores the panorama of the centuries. Journalistic narration with extensive use of artistic reconstructions, computer graphics, animation shows that the business tradition in the region was not interrupted. She manifests herself in different ways in different eras. A key trick used by different types of screen technologies is animation. Monuments to great people, buildings, industrial structures, landscapes of the Volga and Oka, film and photo chronicles are transformed, change in time and space, acquire a different dimension in order to somehow interact with the present, enter into a dialogue with descendants.

Letters
Letters
LETTERS, a dramatic historical fiction written by Mrs. Evelyn Merritt in 2010, tells the story of U.S. soldiers and their loved ones through their correspondence beginning with the Civil War and ending with the War in Iraq. Sahuarita High School students adapted the Readers’ Theatre play into a movie, reasoning the student actors would be kept safe from Covid-19 by filming them individually, and afterward the footage could be reassembled into a screenplay following the original dialogue.

Le poète illuminé, Germain Nouveau (1851-1920)
Le poète illuminé, Germain Nouveau (1851-1920)
Born and died in Pourrières in the Var, Germain Nouveau forms with his friends, Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine, the most remarkable trio of French poetry. Bohemian and vagabond, half saint, half madman, haunted by death and love, he opposed the publication of his collections (La Doctrine de l'Amour, Valentines) which were only published posthumously or against his will. Celebrated by the surrealists (Breton, Aragon), he remains unknown to the general public. Recent research shows that he is the real author of a part of the texts gathered under the title Illuminations. Conceived as a historical, literary and philological investigation, Christian Philibert's film, shot over a period of 25 years, relates the life of Germain Nouveau and the research of the main specialists. Supported by numerous excerpts of texts and illustrated by an abundant iconography, it reveals the itinerary of this extraordinary artist and offers him his rightful place in the history of poetry.

This documentary tells the story of a town consumed by the game and in particular the exceptional events of 2019, where the ball was stolen away in the darkness by a Geography teacher and his brother. This is British sub-culture at its most brilliantly bizarre
