Rescue the Fire
Berlin, 1993. Photographer and artist Jürgen Baldiga battles HIV. In the 1990s, the AIDS epidemic is reaching a climax that no one had expected. The infected bodies and their stories disappear from the public eye, as though they'd never existed. Through the death of his friends and subsequently his own, Baldiga becomes a chronicler of his time: "I am taking a picture. I am photographing the world. I exist."

Our Dance of Revolution
This untold history of Toronto's Black queer community spans four decades of passionate activist rebellion. Refusing to be silenced and raging with love, the featured trailblazers demanded a city where they could all live their truths free from the threat of violence. In the spaces they found for loud laughter and sweaty block parties, they also found themselves. Each bit of revolutionary ground was gained collaboratively, whether protesting police brutality, forming feminist collectives or making room for grief and healing in the wake of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Their transformative creativity and visionary organizing made Toronto more livable for generations to follow. Filmmaker Jalal Vafaee's father, a devoted watchmaker in the Iranian city of Hamadan, was on the side of the Islamic Revolution in his younger years. He has now become a democratic reformist, and is obsessed with the political news and injustice he sees around him. From his shop he tries to find a way to deal with his disappointment in politics. At the same time, holding such democratic opinions isn't without risk.

Sarajevo during the siege in 1992: A group of armed men walks along the banks of the river Miljacka. One man is led away, and the group crosses the river. The neighbouring Grbavica district is about to be taken by the Serbs. The footage was shot by a man from an apartment in an adjacent skyscraper without knowing who the armed men were. Are they Serbs, Bosniaks? His camera wobbles, searches, pursues and retreats. The artist Clarissa Thieme finds the man who shot the film and has him once again recount how it happened.
