Robert Wilson: The Beauty of the Mysterious
We look back at more than half a century of mysterious artistic creation while trying to crack a unique artistic code. Why are people moved to tears when Robert “Bob” Wilson puts minimalistic petrol pumps into a production of Shakespeare’s sonnets? Why does merciless repetition change our understanding of something? Together with Tom Waits, Willem Dafoe or Marina Abramović we trace back our own experience of Bob’s art. Is it true what Philipp Glass the collaborator of the milestone piece “Einstein on the Beach” laughingly and with apparent pleasure exclaims “what does it mean? It doesn’t mean anything!”?

Crossroads
Crossroads
Turkish modern and contemporary art, by the West, is considered as Middle Eastern, but when it’s viewed from our own land, it is seen as Western. Our position as a bridge between the East and the West is not only geographical, but also cultural; and this bridge has been a home for many great civilizations throughout the history. This rich cultural heritage and diversity is the foundation of Turkish modern and contemporary art. Approaching the western world with a more realistic perspective has turned the gaze of Turkish artists to their own land, history, people and tradition. Additionally, the personal statement tendencies of new generation artists have developed their own expression and communication methods instead of emulating the current art developments in the West.

A Day in the Piero Bottoni Archive
In a room of the Cineteca di Milano, Giancarlo Consonni and Graziella Tonon observe old films that have just been digitized: they tell of the life and projects of the architect, urban planner, painter and photographer Piero Bottoni. The film follows the couple's research among the materials stored both in the film library and above all in the archive. They tell of a multifaceted and socially committed artist, who has dedicated his life and his work to the primary intent of instilling dream and enchantment into reality, making use of the contribution of all the arts. Through the multiplicity of materials at our disposal - drawings, films, photos, surveys, projects, voices - the film shows the realization of Piero Bottoni's most ambitious project: the construction of a mountain in Milan, Monte Stella, born from the rubble of the Second World War.

A Taste of Whale
A Taste of Whale
In the Faroe Islands, hundreds of pilot whales are slaughtered each year in a hunt known as the “Grind.” This gruesome tradition has drawn outrage from activists, most notably the international conservation group Sea Shepherd, who routinely sail to the islands to try to block whaling boats. Yet the Faroese are equally determined to maintain their tradition, defending the practice as more sustainable and less cruel than getting meat from slaughterhouses. Director Vincent Kelner spends time with both Faroese hunters and Sea Shepherd crusaders, building to a nuanced look at a disturbing event with much larger implications for the way humans relate to other creatures.
