The Crowds of Chernobyl explores the reasons behind people's fascination with the (arguably) most famous exclusion zone in the world, the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The film attempts to explain the drive behind the 'dark tourism' industry that has blossomed in the nuclear wasteland since 2011, when the site was opened up for tourists. As the interviews from a wide of people unravel why some (including the interviewees) might even make the zone a permanent part of their life; the haunting and provoking visuals invite the viewer to make up their own mind.

Because they were considered disobedient to the Japanese Government, four Japanese officers came to the Sukamanah Islamic Boarding School to force KH Zainal Mustafa to be taken to Tasikmalaya. Hundreds of students stood in front of the Sukamanah Islamic Boarding School armed with bamboo swords. All four Japanese officers were killed. In response the Japanese Government sent troops in greater numbers. Many Santri died as martyrs in the battle known as the bloody Sukamanah incident. The incident occurred on February 25, 1944.

World Natural Heritage Ogasawara - The Sea of Bonin
Scenery unique to Ogasawara (Also knows as the "Galápagos of the Orient," such overwhelming scale of natural landscape, unique to this World Natural Heritage site. It is populated by many delicate endemic species. Sometimes called a "glass" ecosystem, here you can see the brightest stars fill the sky. It is an ancient area of the South Island where land use is severely restricted. Looking further into the Bonin Blue Sea, you will find beautiful lively fish dancing in the water, where coral reefs, sunken boats, and migrating dolphins can be observed. A highlight to see in this area is the great power of humpback whale families appearing to raise their young for winter. The nature of Ogasawara Chichijima and its surroundings was wonderfully captured dynamically from the sky, land, and sea, simply a beauty to behold. Info: The Bonin Islands are an archipelago of over 30 islands, 1,000 kilometres directly south of Tokyo, Japan. The name comes from the word bunin, meaning "no people".
