A Club Called Rhonda
An exploration of the cultural phenomenon that hit LA in 2008 with the opening of the eponymous club. It’s an insight into the free and inclusive spirit of a unique environment, in which the social norms imposed on our daily lives no longer apply. The message behind the film is as inspirational as aspirational. Rhonda is a lifestyle open to anyone brave enough to be themselves, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. It’s an invitation to break away from the limits pre-established by society and to question how we look at family, roles and social structures.

The Fear
The communal memory of killings which took place following World War II in the Dębrzyna forest in south-east Poland, featuring accounts from those who witnessed the atrocities as children. It was a time when many people were returning from forced labour in Germany, with no idea that they might become victims of the attacks being perpetrated by the marauding bandits who had overrun the area. The residents of the nearby villages knew what was going on in the forest, yet never intervened because they were “living in fear” themselves.
Residents
The heroes of the film live in isolation from the external world, in an asylum for patients with mental disabilities. We are trying to shut ourselves off from them, but the life of these people is diverse and interesting in its own way. But the joy in their eyes is making room for sadness and hope.

An Arrow Pointing to a Hole
In this wry confessional video, Steve Reinke appears—shirtless and lavishly tattooed—in a basement, playing archival clips and delivering arch disquisitions on his filmmaking and the ways in which images represent his engagement with the world. Mortality, desire, empathy, and horror all feature as subjects of Reinke’s idiosyncratic erudition, which mutates from sincerity to irony to provocation.
Sacred Talisman
Combining the techniques of object theater with cinematic ones, the authors create a fragile visual and musical world of childhood memories. In this world, there is a cozy little light in the window and the clock is ticking. And then, this secluded children’s world is ruthlessly invaded by a large adult war. The camera captures details and scrutinizes textures, immersing the spectator into history through a biography of things, where music and sound design become the main vehicles. The soundtrack of the performance-film features songs and poems in Yiddish from the repertoire of Leibu Levin, reader and composer.

beta sessions (holophrasis.exe)
Session I investigates the holophrastic stage of language development, where the child is able to reproduce sounds of combined words but not not fully ascertain their distinction, as a greater symbol of the ego’s integration into the symbolic order. Action is staged in the digital realm as a computerized consciousness passes through the pre-libidinal stages of development, articulating and mimicking signs like a child learning to speak. The fundamental trauma of the distinction between souls is embodied in the severance of the mother/child bond, enacted with humanity as the parents of digital simulacra. What does it mean to be born without a body? A discarded draft of a larger project in development. All algorithms coded by hand.
The White Beach
At first calm, even dreamy, the film takes the viewer into the quiet of the seaside and undersea landscape somewhere in Italy.
