A 2009 Cuban drama by Rebeca Chávez taking place in Santiago de Cuba at the beginning of revolution. In the late 1950s, the city of Santiago de Cuba was afire, the site of some of the fiercest resistance to the murderous dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. The film's narrative unfolds over 24 hours in the lives of several youthful members of the underground as they confront their own uncertainty about the morality of armed struggle and the necessity of severing bonds that had seemed unbreakable.

The Fence

Tomek Matuszczak is one of the ten young directors which has taken the challenge of making new film on the Decalogue Commandment's impact for young generations, due to the project made on 20th anniversary of launching the famous "Decalogue" by Krzysztof Kieślowski.

In the center of the city, however, the Bronze Soldier, popularly called Alyosha, continued to stand. There are some bathing sequences sprinkled about and lots of munching going on in this latest addition to my Christmas video series. There's even a Santa Claus figure trodding across sand instead of snow; but don't let that dismaying personage in shades of gray discolor an otherwise plentiful poo-poo platter of pulchritude.

Fighters
Fighters is a portrait of the current realities of both the urban and rural Mexican woman. Filmed in Mexico City and the State of Zacatecas this film documents the primary circumstances, difficulties, obstacles and preoccupations that women face daily in this country. Poverty, hunger, * machismo*, mass migration, and social inequality -- these are some of the issues that are explored through their testimonies. Women from various professions, ages and social-economic statuses share their stories and their hopes for the future, and create a portrait of a Mexico where women are taking more of a central role.
SELF AND OTHERS - Eiga Dojo Workshop film
A very special event that took place immediately following the 2009 Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in Furuyashiki Village. They held a ‘dojo,’ a school where the veteran independent filmmakers from Japan taught the younger generation of independent filmmakers from China and Japan. They watched films, shot and hand-developed Super-8 films. Participants: Azuma Mieko, Cong Feng, Huang Weikai, Ji Dan, Kawabe Ryota, Mao Chenyu, Sato Leo, and others... The participants formed teams. Each received a camera, several rolls of film, and a CD with (mostly urban) sounds to use as a soundtrack. They were to plan and shoot a short film using in-camera editing. (total 4 short films).
Church Cinema
In the summer of 2007, Gan Xiaoer led an independent film projection team, using projectors and self-made screens, to tour villages in Henan province to show his feature film "Raised from dust" for 8 times, and recorded the process. The 81-minute version of Church Cinema records only one stop, the Qiliying Church, where "Raised from dust" was shot.
Bosch: Presidente en la frontera imperial
The documentary presents the most important political and social events that occurred during the administration of the constitutional government with popular backing, headed by Juan Bosch, in the Dominican Republic, during the first seven months of the year 1963. The military coup d´etat that overthrew the Bosch government, the foreign policy of United States President John Kennedy, and relationship of the United States with members of the military who overthrew regimes throughout Latin America, are subjects that occupy a large part of this documentary, made entirely with original images and sounds from that era.
