Nashi
In the forests between Moscow and St.Petersburg 10.000 young Russians are preparing themselves for a heroic future. Their aim is to make Russia the global leader of the 21st Century. They are the choses ones of Russia: the future managers and politicians of the country. As the only outsider, Daya Cahen was allowed to film extensively inside the summer training camp of Vladimir Putin’s radical youth movement “Nashi”, known for breaking up anti-Putin demonstrations and using violence against Putin’s opponents.

Yiddishe Mama
Yiddishe Mama
The authors of the film violated the boundaries of what was permitted by choosing a deliberately provocative topic for their work: tense interethnic relations within the framework of one single family, where a native of the former Soviet Union and an Ethiopian girl were preparing for the wedding. The question is legitimate whether the son-director had the right to bring rubbish from the hut to a wide public court. These are the most intimate details of the relationship with your own mother, is one of our fundamental commandments about respect for parents violated here?

The Crypt of Frankenstein
The Crypt of Frankenstein
This is the final part of a trilogy about the tribulations of Sherri Frankenstein (at least I think it's the last of these atrocities). Made with my class at the San Francisco Art Institute, this fast paced cheapy looks like a million bucks worth of eye candy as it relentlessly snowballs to a chilling climax. The thrills are cheap too as the plot details the heroine's joy ride through Hollywood and her detour into a cathedral of corruption. Fun for the whole, dysfunctional family!

Spectral Delivery
Spectral Delivery
A volume of illustrated horrors arrives to stimulate the chatter of those who behold its weighty extravagance. The locales shift from plate to plate as nutritious foods for thought telegraph their nifty nutrients to the very core of our convoluted coils. The dishes arrive in a variety of spices and places so just sit back, savor the variety, and help deposit what is digested in a bowl of your choice (hopefully of porcelain perfection with maybe a splash of yellow effervescence!).

Pictographic Piles
Pictographic Piles
As I rummage through a stack of photos the memories of this and that plus who’s what and where rush in helter skelter. There’s a lot to swallow on screen and off (most of it from Oriental kitchens) but there are dashes of the even more exotic as the viewer glimpses renderings of the indigestible here and there (but mostly above and beyond!).

A Birth of BrainFly is a surreal narrative dealing with the process of a person’s individuation in a mental scape. La Sonnambula
La Sonnambula
La Sonnambula is an idillic, classical and intense melodramma with an extremely fine, lyrical musicality and tense with pure "canto", suspended between Arcadia and Romanticism. It is a combination of tender and melancholic sentiments and of tragic and moving passion, in a natural uncontaminated and innocent atmosphere and humanity which clearly represent the artistic experience of the composer. The charming staging by Hugo de Ana, at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari goes back to January 2007. Through fascinating tableaux vivants, references to 17th century Romantic painting and refined visual projections, it is a tribute to Luchino Visconti. Visconti produced the memorabile performance of Sonnambula in March at the Scala di Milano with the magnificant Maria Callas.
