Banished

Acts of the Apostles
This dramatization from the New Testament originated as a 342-minute, five-part television mini-series; it was subsequently released in a shortened, 280-minute version. In part one, the Apostles call the pilgrims of Jerusalem to be baptized, and Peter (Jacques Dumur) and John (Mohamed Kouka) are arrested by the Sanhedrin but later set free. In part two, Stephen (Zignani Houcine) is stoned for disobeying Mosaic Law, Philip (Bepy Mannaiuolo) baptizes an Ethiopian eunuch, and Saul (Edoardo Torricella) is blinded by the Lord while journeying to Damascus. In part three, Peter baptizes a centurion and Saul, renamed Paul, makes his first mission journey from Antioch in Syria to Pisidian Antioch. In part four, Paul preaches the equality before God of both the circumcised and uncircumcised. In part five, Paul is arrested in Jerusalem and sent to stand trial in Rome.

Pompeii: Rebirth of a City
Archaeology, as we understand it, didn't exist in 1758 when Johann Joachim Winckelmann made his way from the royal library in Dresden, Germany, to visit another private collection. He wanted to see the King of Naples's museum of statues, salvaged from crude digs at the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, 1700 years after their destruction in the eruption of Vesuvius in AD79. The king's guards refused him entry. But Winckelmann persevered, sneaking into the museum and the excavation sites, until he published an illicit catalogue of the finds that took the civilized world by storm, sparking a new interest in, and understanding of, the classical world. At last Winckelmann's life's work was recognized, but he had to fight to the end of his life for the ideal of scientifically accurate and responsible archaeology. In the 21st century, Andrew Wallace Hadrill directs excavations at the two lost cities.

History of the German Tank Forces 1914-1945
Modern weapons- techniques and military strategies determined since times the performance and the outcome of wars. In the center of weapon-related innovations stood - at latest since the wars in emplaced and fortified positions, beginning in the 20th century - the mobility. The invention of the fighting tank has made possible a high grade of movability, and determined the result of World War 1. The "blitz" wars at the beginning of World War 2 were possible only by combined deployment of modern tanks and a superior air force. Analyzing of important tank battles stresses the importance of technical standards, of tactical deployment, as well as the high commitment of the tank crews. Films in colour and black and white, partly never seen before, will show for the first time the development of the German Tank Forces from the years of 1914 until 1945 in a comprehensive way.

Evergreen
Based on the novel by Belva Plain, covering a time span from 1909 to 1959. The story begins in New York's Lower East Side with the arrival of Polish-Jewish immigrant Anna (Lesley Ann Warren). At first employed as a humble seamstress, Anna is whisked into a whole new world when she becomes the wife of the enterprising Joseph Friedman (Armand Assante), who eventually becomes a wealthy Westchester contractor. Even so, Anna's heart belongs to Paul Lerner (Ian Shane), the son of the prosperous Fifth Avenue family which employs her relatives. In 1918, Anna gives birth to Paul's daughter, allowing Joseph to believe that he is the father. The secret surrounding Anna's child will lead to a daunting and frequently heartbreaking chain of events, culminating decades later in the newly formed state of Israel, where Anna's grandson Eric hopes to "find himself" -- and ends up finding more than he bargained for.

Tom Crean: Antarctica's Forgotten Hero
The Irishman Tomás Ó Cuirín (1877-1938), known as Tom Crean, was one of the greatest heroes in the history of Antarctic exploration: he participated in three of the greatest expeditions, shared adventures with Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Henry Shackleton, the great rivals of the time, and survived them both. However, today he is a practically forgotten figure.
