Margarethe Doesn’t Want to be Seen Dancing
It is the European Middle Ages. Ana’s mother is out in the street and, for no apparent reason, has started to dance. Ana feels deeply humiliated by her mother’s unexplainable behavior. To make matters worse, her mother keeps dancing without stopping for several days, and eventually other people start joining her without giving any explanation. Mortifed by embarrassment, Ana and other teenagers in the village try everything to distance themselves from the adult dancers; but the grown-ups seem determined to make fools of themselves, and to carry everything along with them while landscape, plants, animals, and social roles seem to turn ridiculous as well.

The Happy Island
The Happy Island looks at the work of the London Missionary Society on Gemo (now Hanudamua) Island in Port Moresby harbour, Papua New Guinea, which from 1937-1974 treated people who suffered from infectious diseases, mainly leprosy and tuberculosis. The film offers insight into the attitudes and practices of Christian missionaries of that time. Despite the colonial paternalism that underpins the Missionary Society’s model of care, the film tells the story of a happy, active community, as it follows the lives of the patients, their families and the dedicated staff, all of whom live, work and socialise on the island together.

Little Life
The film tells about the fate of a little boy Pylypko. In the hungry winter of 1932-1933, his mother died. The boy is taken away by his uncle, but Pylypko runs away from his house in search of his mother. He got lost in the woods and almost froze. The child is saved from death by two monks and taken to a monastery. There he learned to paint icons and proved to be a very capable artist. Later a Frenchman came to the monastery. His young daughter is very ill, and the boy sincerely wishes her recovery. Learning that this requires praying to St. Panteleimon, Philip decides to draw his icon and help the girl.
