Memento
Memento
A lyrical documentary film, an elegy to Epirus that fades away, but also to Epirus that survives. A love song for those who stayed, for those who migrated, for its musicians and its unique nature. A journey to Giromeri, Thesprotia, during the Easter days. Through the cinematic lens, we observe the everyday life of this little village and search for the roots of a very special tradition. An attempt - contrary to the relentless digitization of our times - to keep the analog memory of the Greek countryside alive: a life memento.

Cheers to Iranian Women
Cheers to Iranian Women
The documentary is a portrayal of the lives and struggles of six influential Iranian women activists, now living in exile, engaged in a number of areas of political and social activism. These areas encompass the fight for women's rights and equality, for secularism, free thought and expression, for civil liberties, the abolition of the death penalty and stoning, redress for families of executed political prisoners, and for workers' rights. The six women in my film, together, thus represent important areas of social protest in the current Iranian society.

Death of a City
Death of a City
In the heart of Bairro Alto, right in the centre of Lisbon, the building of an old printing workshop is demolished to make way for luxury apartments. Seeing this as a perfect image for the death of a certain Lisbon in the wake of the financial crisis and the ensuing real estate and touristic boom, the director films an urban diary portraying the daily life of the construction site and those who work there. What starts out as a work-centred film turns out to be the story of the director’s relationship with his hometown and with the people who build it.

Surviving Hitler's Mad Doctors
Surviving Hitler's Mad Doctors
The Nazi Regime under Adolf Hitler imposed some of the most insane forms of eugenics the world has ever seen. Between 1939 and 1945, at least 70 medical research projects, involving cruel and often lethal experimentation on human subjects, were conducted behind the walls of Nazi concentration camps. These supposed research projects were carried out by established institutions within the Third Reich and fell into three main areas; research aimed at improving the survival and rescue of German troops, testing of medical procedures and pharmaceuticals, and experiments that sought to confirm Nazi racial ideology. More than seven thousand victims of these medical experiments have been documented, but the official number remains unknown.

Behind the Rage: America's Domestic Violence
Behind the Rage: America's Domestic Violence
In America, most female homicide victims are killed by their current or former partner and one in 4 women experience domestic violence or abuse. In this special documentary for ITV's acclaimed Exposure strand, the Bafta and Emmy-winning filmmaker Deeyah Khan asks a simple question : is it possible to reduce these endemic levels of male violence? In search of an answer, she hears heartfelt testimonies from survivors and victims’ families, and gets vital insights from social workers and psychologists who work with violent men. And she speaks to those whose voices are rarely heard in conversations about domestic violence yet hold the key to stopping it: the perpetrators themselves.

The Fabulous Ones
It often happens that at the moment of death, transgender individuals are shorn of their identity. Their families are ashamed, the funeral takes place in secret, and on the tomb appears the name the deceased had before their transition, in one stroke nullifying the entire life path they had chosen. The same thing happened to Antonia. Her girlfriends gather to honor her memory and give her back her identity denied. In telling her story, the film’s stars, all drawn from the variegated transgender world, interweave the narrative with tales of their own lives, experiences, and memories.

The Neutron Bomb
We've all heard of the atomic bomb, but in the late 1950s, an idea was conceived of a bomb which would maximize damage to people, but minimize damage to buildings and vital infrastructure: perfect for an occupying army. Over Our Hills
Over Our Hills
Switzerland is one of the few European countries that still has mandatory military service. This film provides a glimpse behind the walls of the barracks, where soldiers participate in the required drills and exercises, but also find ways in which to alleviate boredom. We watch young recruits during daily activities: eating, cleaning, and video conversations with the surrounding world. However, the montage also includes the vlogs of men who have already completed their military training and share their experiences, anecdotes, and frustrations over the internet. In this way, the problematic aspects of a militarized society appear in between entertaining excerpts from military life.

The Natural History of Destruction
The Natural History of Destruction
Is it morally acceptable to use the civilian population as yet another tool for waging war? Is it possible to justify death and destruction for the sake of supposedly lofty ideals? The question remains as pertinent today as it was at the beginning of World War II, and it is becoming increasingly urgent to answer, as countless tragedies have been caused by unethical political decisions.

The rough, unkempt facades in Prenzlauer Berg – as if the skin had been peeled off the houses, says photographer Tina Bara. Having grown up in a prefabricated building, the young woman was drawn to East Berlin. Lettre à l'enfant que tu nous as donné
Lettre à l'enfant que tu nous as donné
How do we protect our connection with young people? This is the question the film tries to answer by addressing them directly through a voice-over. In a mosaic of fiction and animation sequences, film excerpts, "smartphone" shots and a considerable amount of archive material, the film restores entire sections of our History and our current events, by looking back at some of the major political and social achievements that young people often ignore. "Letter to the child you gave us" aims at inciting them to measure the importance of laws, the stake of democracy, and to push them to the commitment until fighting abstention.
