No Boundaries
In the serene embrace of sacred nature, trivial thoughts dissolve away. A profound silence engulfs the mind, stifling even the breath. It is the rediscovery of a lost emotion—'awe,' flowing like a stream. A mother, mourning the loss of her only son, embarks on a daily ritual of mountain hikes. In the ascent, she seeks solace amidst the sacred silence that nature provides. For her, the journey becomes a poignant exploration of the profound and the mundane. A 70-year-old haenyeo (traditional female diver), wise from a life intertwined with the sea, asserts that materiality is both our everyday reality and our path to paradise. Their lives, like the ebb and flow of water, find meaning in the continuous stream. Following the currents, one discovers mountains beneath the sea, whereas within the mountains, the sea continues to flow. Ultimately, the boundaries of the world are revealed to be nonexistent, echoing the profound interconnectedness of all things.
There Goes the Neighborhood
Gentrification and displacement are affecting all big cities throughout the world, but none more egregiously than my hometown of New York City. As a Native New Yorker, I am disturbed to see my beloved hometown become a haven for the wealthy when it was once a city that valued culture and community over money. Before Covid happened, the sky seemed to be the limit for corporate greed and that is when I started making this film. I chose specifically to focus on two lower-class neighborhoods that are in peril- Queens and the Lower East Side. In documenting these neighborhoods under threat, I met local activists whose lives centered around maintaining the ethos of their community.

This experience compels her to confront the harsh realities of a city defined by bombings and male interference. While organizing drawing lessons for women and girls, comforting her young niece, and sharing her story with the documentary crew, Amany's outlook on the future gradually erodes.

The Society of the Spectacle
Since 1967, Guy Debord’s critical manifesto ‘The Society of the Spectacle’ has been an essentiel theoretical basis for any attempt to analyse the capitalist society of images that permeates every aspect of life in the Western world. We live in a continuous sensory bombardment of distractions that keep us in the role of passive consumers – a condition that has not exactly improved since the revolutionary 60s. What to do? And how do you film a notoriously complicated theory that attacks the very image itself? Artist Roxy Farhat and filmmaker Göran Hugo Olsson (‘Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975’) bring Guy Debord’s ideas into the 21st century. Guy Debord’s own (anti)films are given a modern counterpoint by satirical interventions in a visual work that is not afraid to criticise neither itself nor the cult around Debord and situationism.
