Only Godard
How do you craft the portrait of Jean-Luc Godard, or better yet a portrait of his methodology, his universe, his way of constructing or deconstructing cinema, that is equal to his own cinematic audacity and genius? How could it be anything other than by taking risks, and trying out equally radical methods, never straying from to his example. The two filmmakers immerse us into the storage warehouse where, in 2010, all the archives kept by Godard in Switzerland were transferred, and they create a doppelganger (or a duplicate) of the director, who takes up the role of our guide into his world. Excerpts from his writings, his images, his perspective in cinema give us a glimpse into his mythology, his techniques, his singular gaze, and therefore also in his worldview.

4:30
Ilya, a blind pensioner, plans to run a marathon in the average time for sighted athletes — four and a half hours. Dima's young coach helps him approach the matter correctly: maintain the pace, calculate the load, and hold out until the finish line. In the 15 minutes that the film lasts, we will see the entire range of emotions between them, from irritation to sincere support, and also learn a lot about Ilya: what he strives for when he stopped seeing what he considers important in life and what is nonsense. The director shoots the characters on grainy black-and-white film, interspersing jogging and conversations with surreal, fantasy portrait shots, separates the dialogue from the picture and stitches the film with a pulsating soundtrack, reassembles the material as a collage, creating an unusual and surprisingly integral aesthetic.
A Tree Grows in My Dreams Every Night
An evocative journey to a small Slovenian village turns into an enchanting immersion into the collective memory and the backbone of a certain place through stories from the present and the past that converge, intermingle, coexist outside of time, in the plane of the unseen, in the sphere of sentiments. With photographs, taken by photographer Stojan Kerbler decades ago, of the village and its residents serving as a guide, the film crafts the portrait of a place through narrations, images, poetry and pure cinematic beauty. It may not be easy to describe how "a tree grows in dreams" in just a handful of words, but you can be sure that seeing it is nothing less than an experience beyond a mere viewing, something you experience like a dream or a caress, like a song that glides from your ears straight to your heart.

returns. Unlike her, I never travelled to the end of the F line. But I can see, hear and feel it. Can
you?

Britain's broken welfare system is leaving our community on the brink
"The Guardian has been working with a group of community reporters in Rochdale who turned the lens on a broken benefits system which they had seen first hand unfairly penalising vulnerable people in their community. The team of reporters met friends, family and others in the community trying to navigate the system while also trying to advocate for change in greater Manchester and across the country. This film was made as part of a collaborative video series called Made in Britain."
