Twakana Yagan
In Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, lives the Yagán Paiakoala community, references of an ancestral people that has been living for more than 8,000 years. Catalina Yagan, 89 years old, remembers the song of her grandfather Asenewensis. Her sons Victor and Roberto Vargas set out on a journey on horseback from the indigenous reserve they currently occupy, crossing the shores of the Onashaga channel in search of their ancestral reflection. Twakana means teaching, and through this story a connection with the ritual singing of Asenewensis is proposed. The Yaghan language travels through the raw nature and feeling of a living people.

Introducing Made Back East, a natively New England ski film. A Vagrants original, in partnership with Parlor Skis and presented by Life is Good, that explores a love affair with backcountry skiing. The ski community refers to our home as “back east”. Assuming that anybody who grew up skiing here would eventually find their way out West. But to us, that assumes too much. The mark of a true New England skier is a deep appreciation for the bad days just as much as the good ones. As they say “if you can ski the northeast, you can ski anywhere”. In this film, we follow six diehard skiers on a trip into the woods seeking that perfect window where everything comes together.
Single in China
“Sheng nu” (“leftover women”) is a term used to describe single women who are 27 or older in China. Most of these women live in cities and lead rewarding professional lives. The term was coined in 2007 by a government organization responsible for the protection and promotion of women’s rights and policies. That same year, the Ministry of Education added “sheng nu” to the official lexicon.
