Where I'm From
Where I'm From
A CHILDHOOD. A NEIGHBORHOOD. AN ODE TO LIFE One-of-a-kind autobiography narrated and filmed with great sensibility and beauty. Its exceptional cinematic quality offers a visual treat to a Quebec rarely seen before. This poetic take on childhood memory transcends simple nostalgia for a sincere celebration of life. Claude Demers returns to the working-class district of Montréal where he grew up, and immediately wonders: Why? The rest of Where I'm From forms the answer. Demers tries to relive all the experiences he had for the first time as a child, or at least understand them: the first novel he read and the power of language. His first awareness of death. The question of what is normal and what isn’t. The idea of wanting to leave, of having to leave.

Se battre
Se battre
Today, countless French people of all ages find it hard making ends meet. We know virtually nothing about these lives, their innermost thoughts, their daily routine and their struggle to survive. Stigmatized by misleading and unfair descriptions, they are the dark and silent face of our society that we are gradually coming to accept. However, within them, they carry the desire for rebellion, their dreams, the lust for life and the words to express all that. Alone at their side, volunteers from charity organizations, a genuine shadow army, work selflessly for an idea of justice and the common good. Their united energies fuel the desire to go on living together and mark out a pathway of hope for all. Cinema's fragile gift is to place us at the heart of these fragments of existence, both offered to our gaze and yet so modest.

I'm Tryna Tell Ya
A documentary of Chicago Footwork and Juke scene. "In spring 2012 We went to Chicago to document the Footwork Scene. When we got home and started reviewing the footage we realised we had just filmed our first full length documentary. A scene ingrained in the lineage of the City itself, filled with effervescent dancers, storytellers and beatmakers. It was singlehandedly the most unique and in-depth tour we had ever experienced. Featuring key players on the scene, such as DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, Manny, Traxman & Arpebu. The team navigated through the Windy City living with the GHETTOTEKNITIANZ of Teklife. They slept on floors, sofas and in dodgy motels with their charming hosts. All the while managing to obtain un-seen footage from the finest Producers, Footworkers and the good people of Chi-Town. It’s taken our team a long and painstaking while to put this together. We hope to do the people who shared their homes, talent and ultimately their lives with us, proud."

Newborns
Laxmi Agarwal, a human rights activist and a survivor of acid violence, gazes back at us, as we contemplate together, the meaning of memory and loss. What does it mean to survivors of acid violence? What does it mean to people in their environment? How do the two world-views interact? What do concepts of 'fear', 'power', 'innocence' and 'beauty' mean to us? The Newborns attempts to provide a lens to the survivors of acid violence, to look forward and gaze back. They take us through the ennui of their domestic and public spaces in a nameless dystopian city, its factories, houses and motels, and its promises, never honored.

As he attends various lavish weddings occurring within his family, Dhruv is pestered to follow suit but is haunted by his family’s history of infidelity, as well as his own and embarks on a personal quest to discover the origins of marriage, the reasons for monogamy and the pain of infidelity as he tries to mediate an open relationship with the woman he loves.
