Conversation with Albert Knoll
"For some time now I wanted to shoot a short film about Albert Knoll's tireless self-organized historical work and ask him why he has dedicated a large part of his life to commemorating the crimes against humanity committed during the Nazi dictatorship and what this archival work has done to him. A special focus is on oral history, as I am interested in how, as a conversational partner, one preserves their knowledge and experiences in a certain way after the death of the contemporary witnesses. After Albert Knoll has done so many contemporary witness interviews the last thirty years and was the one who asked the questions, I reversed the situation in the short film and interviewed him." - Gufler

In 2019, Taiwan became the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. Three years on, same-sex couples still face challenges that heterosexual couples do not: some have trouble becoming legal guardians for their children; others must travel abroad to start a family; some are even rejected when applying for legal marriage status. As such, legalization was just another small step forward in the fight for equality.
This 90-minute documentary shows how different same-sex couples fight for the life they desire and deserve. They may be fighting different battles, but they share one thing in common: the belief that the sun will shine after this rain.

Note of Defiance
Filmed in early 2023, on the Ukrainian-Russian border, this short documentary explores two artists' use of their creativity and art as a means of cultural survival and defiance. In Kharkiv, Ukraine; attacks on civilian centres have forced cultural sites to close. The Kharkiv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is one of the biggest cultural sites in the city forced to close due to these attacks. Two inspiring artists move continue to provide concerts and lessons anywhere they can; from parking garages to bomb shelters. Through powerful interviews, we learn of the unique challenges artists have faced during this conflict. From censorship and persecution, to displacement and trauma. The film concludes with emotional performance, where two disciplines of violin and dance are brought together in the theatre for the first time in nearly a year.

In 2022, in a forested area of northern Thailand, virologist Meriadeg Le Gouil and biologist Pipat Soissok are collecting specimens and droppings from a colony of rhinolophids for analysis. They hope to learn whether these bats, which harbor viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2, were able to transmit the virus to an animal host, which in turn infected humans. The other hypothesis concerning the origin of Covid-19 is that of a laboratory escape. In 2021, after months of fruitless waiting, a delegation of WHO experts finally arrived in Wuhan, where the virus had spread from. They visited the now-closed former indoor market, where live animals were traded, and the Institute of Virology, although no laboratory safety specialists were among their members.

The Beautiful Summers
The voices, faces and bodies of the students of the Liceo Artistico Mengaroni in Pesaro embody the characters of two novels by Cesare Pavese, La bella estate and Il diavolo in collina. Seventy years later, the "beautiful summers" of Ginia and Guido, Amelia and Poli, Oreste, Pieretto, are staged by contemporary bodies who read Pavese's words and discover the closeness of the themes addressed by the author to their own experience, feeling the emotions that the staging of some episodes of the two works arouses in them.

She herself had been abandoned as a child by her own mother, when she divorced Jialai’s grandfather and moved to the city.
