After the death of her beloved husband Neil Chayet, famed CBS Boston radio host of Looking at the Law, Martha Chayet struggles to adapt to life as a widow. When she steps out of the house to run errands, it's all by herself. When she cooks, it's just for one. Things are just a little bit quieter around the house these days. Meanwhile, the filmmaker is grieving the sudden passing of his father. As he films Martha’s day-to-day life, both come to the realization that although we may never overcome our grief, we can learn to embrace it, welcome it, and channel it to preserve the legacies of our loved ones.

Observe These Words focuses on endagered amphibians. The latin name for the amphibian, amphibia, refers to life on two elements (land and water). The two also draw on the structure of the film, as images depict the artificial, regulated habitat of small animals, whilst the voice-over emphasizes the call of freedom and future.

April 1939. Fascist Italy occupies Albania. Thousands of Italian workers, settlers and technicians are transferred to the country. November 1944, Albania is liberated. The new Communist government closes the borders and places dozens of conditions on Italy for the repatriation of its citizens. In 1945 27,000 Italian veterans and civilians were still held in Albania. Among them there is a cameraman, Alfredo C. An operator of the Fascist propaganda effort, he has been traveling around Albania with his movie camera for five years. Before that, for almost two decades, he had immortalised the great machine of the regime. Now, by a twist of fate, being the only cameraman around, Alfredo has been asked to work on behalf of Communist propaganda. Shut up in his storeroom, surrounded by thousands of reels of film, Alfredo watches what he has shot again on an old Moviola. It is his film that we are watching. And perhaps, not his alone.

Shot at Bate Island in Ottawa, "landing" is made from hand-processed B&W 16mm film hand-coloured with organic and photochemical tones, video and found sound. "landing" examines moments of respite in between flight and movement, where landing becomes refuge.

Crossing's End
On a winter night in 2002, a couple in their early 20s is breaking up atop a bridge, when the woman falls down. Is it a suicide or accidental death? The man asks a friend to call an ambulance, but the woman dies. The man and his friend are imprisoned for murder when an eyewitness reverses her original statement and says that she saw the two men throwing the woman from the bridge. After more than a decade, director Shih Yu-Lun collaborates with the ‘Taiwan Innocence Project’, a private organization that helps innocent people who have been unjustly convicted, to re-investigate the case.
