Facing the Laughter: Minnie Pearl
Facing the Laughter: Minnie Pearl
She was a dichotomy – Sarah was educated, serious, intelligent, articulate, ambitious and untraditional in many ways. Minnie was uncomplicated, direct, playful and quite traditional. A young girl hailing from a small Tennessee town with big dreams of being a Shakespearian actress on the world stage was more like a delusion in the 1930’s. But she did make it on the world stage – with her recognizable costume and same opening line that never grew tiresome. The legacy she left was one of compassion, empowerment and innovation. But mostly she made us laugh. This is her story… simple, yet complicated. A permanent fixture in country music yet music was clearly not her gift.

Post-war Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. Adults who are swayed by the US military stationed in the country and swayed by US intentions cannot afford to care about children who should be protected. The war orphans, who had no choice but to survive on their own, were used to shining shoes for American soldiers, picking up cigarettes, and sometimes committing crimes. However, at some point, they came across a "cleaning" job. They work hard instead of committing crimes and earn money by being appreciated by people. The orphans begin to regain their smiles through experiences that make them feel like they should be alive. The children started to have a modest dream of "renting a house and living" with their own earnings, but they were attacked by an even harsher reality...

ITA Live: Kings of War
ITA Live: Kings of War
In Kings of War, director Ivo van Hove focuses on political leadership. The original texts were retranslated by Rob Klinkenberg and then thoroughly adapted: the Hundred Years' War between England and France, and the Rose Wars between the houses of Lancaster and York for the English throne, which are emphatically present as a historical context in the original pieces, were referred to the background in the adaptation in order to accommodate a varied portrait of successive kings. As leaders in times of political instability and war, they show remarkable affinities with world leaders today.

Zoroastro
Zoroastro
Zoroaster, in this case, has nothing to do with the religion that spread to Asia five centuries before Christ. Instead, it has to do with a character who is still little known, but of great interest: Zoroaster of Peretola. This was the "art" name that Tommaso Masini, born in 1462, had chosen for himself, a disturbing, scruffy, eccentric character, passionate about magic and occultism, but also an expert in painting and mechanics: so much so that he became an inseparable friend and accomplice of Leonardo da Vinci. For him, Zoroaster experimented - risking his life - with the flight machine that Leonardo had conceived, launching himself from the rock face of Mount Céceri, near Fiesole. It glided for at least a thousand meters before crashing.
