The story of Frank Walker, an African-American WWII veteran working as a chauffeur. It is the summer of 1945. The War is all but won. The U.S. is riding a wave of triumph even as the undertow of unresolved issues roils beneath. Frank, like so many other African-Americans of the time, is drawn to New York by the promise of better life only to be confronted by the same realities, fear, and hatred he hoped he had left behind. He struggles to keep his emotions in check as he strives for freedom and equality in this slowly evolving world. Frank Walker is a man scarred by a past that is lurking skin deep. Based on a true story and inspired by the song of the same title by singer songwriter Joe Crookston.

Mountain
I found a very interesting story in the book "Indian Mythology" by Katsuhiko Uemura. It is poetic and gaggy in some parts. Once upon a time, a mountain had wings and flew around. When the mountain landed on the earth, the earth shook with a roar...". This story was made up by Brahmins (monks) 4 to 5,000 years ago. It is said that those in power at that time ruled their people by making up interesting stories. Is it the same today?

Ballad on the Shore
On the small isle of Tap Mun, the ocean breeze gently lifts up strands of grey hair on Lai Lin-shau’s head. He quietly sings in the characteristic tones of the fisherman’s ballads. Seemingly without rules, the pitch and tones alternate and repeat themselves as if they were synchronising with the ocean waves. Lai is one of the few people alive who knows the fisherman’s ballads intimately. None of his children experienced the harsh and unforgiving life at sea. They are not even aware of his priceless knowledge of the ballads. As the fishing community shrinks, old fishermen found new ways of life on land. One performs and teaches the ballads to young children; another uses the ballads to spread her Christian faith. The ballads have become a spiritual harbour for these landed fishermen. But deaths come brutally. Lai loses his listeners and his memory of the ballads. A precious part of him is dying.

Passing as a Great Grey Owl
Commissioned for an event in Glasgow hosted by LUX and LUX Scotland, to celebrate the life and work of Ian White (1971–2013) and to mark the publication of “Here Is Information. Mobilise: Selected Writings by Ian White”, which collects key critical writings by artist and curator. Found footage of a female biologist mimicking the call of the male Great Grey Owl is counterposed with video of the legs of women as they urinate in various wildernesses. The collision of these activities in landscape points towards an exuberant queer territoriality. This work includes a passage from “I am (for The Birds)”, the final text in the book “Here is Information. Mobilise: Selected Writings by Ian White”.
I Saw the Future
In a dark expanse that could be the cosmos, we hear the voice of Arthur C. Clarke, whose face - taken from a BBC archive dating back to the 1960s - appears in the distance. His features quickly dematerialize into a multitude of shimmering pixels, creating an enveloping and immersive space out of which the thoughts of the famed author of «2001: A Space Odyssey» emerge. At the heart of this spectral environment, and with a magnetic voice sending us back to the time of cathode ray tubes and the golden age of television broadcasting, A C. Clarke tells us about the arrival of digital revolution, decades ahead of his time. This film is an invitation to travel, and a crepuscular form of poetry to be experienced immersively.
Kyiv’s Youth Leaving a Grocery Store
Kyiv’s Youth Leaving a Grocery Store is an homage to the Lumiere brothers’ classic “Workers leaving the Lumiere Factory”. Reconsidering the world’s first cinematic works, the artists address the redefining of labor and change of socio-economic formation. Thus, a producing factory turns into a consuming factory, and leisure turns into exhausting toil on the dance floor.
