Nakba Day Killings
Every year on 15 May, acts of memorialization and resistance take place throughout Palestine to commemorate the Nakba catastrophe of 1948, when Palestinian people were violently displaced from the land that subsequently became Israel. On Nakba Day 2014, a protest culminated in clashes with Israeli security forces outside of the Ofer Prison in the town of Beitunia, next to Ramallah. Two teenagers, Nadeem Nawara, 17, and Mohammad Mahmoud Odeh Abu Daher, 16 were shot dead in front of security cameras and TV film crews. The videos showed that the two Palestinian teens were shot while walking unarmed and posing no threat. One video, shot by CNN, captured two different members of the Israeli security forces on site discharging their weapons in the protestor’s direction, and then panning to show Nawara’s body being carried towards an ambulance. Despite this footage, the Israeli security forces denied committing this massacre.

Ader, (Josh Elrod) travels through the desert of the American West, and joins forces with a fever dream companion (John Earl Jelks) and they make their way to the ocean where they perform Ader's final, miraculous performance. The film is set in Southern California.

The Handkerchief
Alistair meets June on a park bench at lunchtime. She's not aware he is blind but when he misses the handkerchief she is trying to pass him, she realizes. She feels sorry for him but then he charms her with his conversation and acute sense of smell. They agree to meet again but June is late and Alistair is beset with doubts about her interest in him. When she shows up he can't hide his irritation. Eventually they make up and arrange a proper date. They picnic and Alistair introduces June to the many and varied scents of roses when he guides her, blindfolded, through the gardens. At last they kiss. Alistair caresses June face which comes into focus for the first time.
