The Main Celebration of Life
In Russia, the attitude to death is paradoxically irrational – we all seem to live forever. Entrepreneur Sergey Yakushin is the only reasonable "madman" who conducted a funeral "revolution" in his native Novosibirsk. Yakushin himself turned around to face death after being diagnosed with late-stage cancer 15 years ago. And they gave me a year of life.

They get married, so she gains the right to talk to him once a month in the visiting room on the other side of the glass. The ceremony is quick with a strange ambiance. Sage of the Shakyas
The name of the Buddha Shakyamuni is translated as "Sage of the Sak family." However, whether the Buddha was really a Sak, no one has proven in science so far. Based on some similarities between Buddhism and Tengrianism, as well as on the striking similarity between Buddhist culture and Saka style, Kazakh archaeologist Arman Umarkhodzhiev puts forward a theory about the blood relationship of the Shakyamuni Buddha family with the prosperous Saka tribes that lived in the same era on the territory of modern Kazakhstan. For confirmation of their theory, the researchers go on an expedition to Nepal.

Rice
A day in a children’s camp in a rural area during the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Five young boys decide to have a ‘party’ with rice they have ‘stolen’ from the camp store, grain by grain day by day. In three months the rice collected is the size of a fist and the boys can’t withstand waiting any longer. They cook the rice at the lakeside, taking care not to be seen. But when they see the cooked rice they are mesmerised by the scent and the taste and don’t notice that they are spotted by a Khmer Rouge cadet. As a consequence the camp Commander sends them to be ‘re-educated’ (killed) as an example to the rest of the boys.

Ballast - São Pedro Hotel Stories
The short documentary explores the history of the old, and apparently forgotten, São Pedro Hotel, a historic landmark from the golden age of Iracema Beach (Fortaleza, Brazil), through the memories of those who lived or had some connection with the building. Despite using the building as a congregating element of the different stories exposed in the film, its protagonists are the memories and stories of those who became emotionally involved with the building. These memories, as well as the ballast with the same name as the title, serve as support for the "building-ship" that is slowly sinking.

Le Hameau
In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Bertille Bak met a sibling group of 5 hunter-skidders living independently in the heart of the Alsatian forest, in the hamlet of Ursprung, whose daily life she then shared. Guardians of hunting quotas, animal species regulation, trackers and woodworking, the artist observed the organization of the hunting troops, the traditions and codes that survive and are perpetuated. In her film Le Hameau, Bertille Bak plunges us into the world of this family, a timeless immersion in the Ursprung, which literally means "the jump of the watch" in Alsatian. Close to the research of the ethnologist and concerned by social conditions, Bertille Bak collects and archives the traces and testimonies of the people she meets. With melancholy derision and without taking sides, the film focuses on a singular reality. The result is a delicate questioning of the boundary between the domestic and the wild, the personification of animals and the precariousness of marginal lifestyles.
