a dichotomy
다이코터미 refers to the dichotomy between memory of place and gaze. The film represents medium-specific noise and fragments created about a specific city beyond memory. The same place, but different perspectives and fragmented molecules discontinuously reorganize the order and indicators of space and time. The two different directions of gaze and time and space are imitations of each other. The noise generated by the characteristics of the 16mm film medium expresses the fragmented molecules of memory in time and space.

Recluse
"Recluse" is a short film I wanted to make as challenge to see if I could tell an effective story without dialogue and complete it in a 30 day time span. It ended up stretching out over the course of many months, mostly because I was getting "When Black Birds Fly" ready for release, but I'm pretty happy with the results! This is also the first film I've animated in 4K. Featuring cameo vocals by Emily Youcis & Rachael Deacon, and additional sound design by M dot Strange!

Déjà Vu
The documentary began years ago in director Jon Bang Carlsen's childhood home in rural Denmark when he committed a dreadful act that still reverberates within him. His father had hung a painting of Jesus above his bed. Every evening before closing his eyes, he would beg the man on the cross to look after his family. When his family collapsed and his father left their home, in spite of all his prayers, young Jon blinded his father's gift, burning Jesus' eyes with a glowing poker. Since then the director has travelled the world with his camera to find ways of making up for the damage. His film tells of this journey, mirroring his own life's story in images and clips from his more than forty films made in a variety of genres.
