Nation for Two
Nation for Two
A mix of land art, performance and stop-motion, Nation for Two is a surreal visual essay on the idea that “love knows neither nationality nor borders”. Inspired by the authors' own biographies, the film follows a man and a woman tunneling their way towards each other, from one end of the planet to the other, to be together, passing through forests, deserts, urban spaces or war zones. Adele: VH1 Unplugged
Adele: VH1 Unplugged
Earlier this month Adele stopped by a studio in Harlem to perform a six-song set for VH1 Unplugged. We have the song known as “The Contradictions Track,” which is “(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman,” in advance of the show’s online premiere March 3. It may seem like a dangerous move for any singer to cover Aretha Franklin. Is there a more surefire way to feel inadequate? But Adele smartly introduced the song by saying she wouldn’t attempt to reinterpret it. While we agree with her sentiment (and respect for Aretha), turns out no disclaimer was needed. Listening up-close to Adele’s mellow but true rendition, which required only minimal guitar and keys, it seemed to us there is no one Adele can’t cover with her powerful, nuanced singing.

Jerusalem: The Making Of A Holy City
Jerusalem: The Making Of A Holy City
Historian and author, Simon Sebag Montefiore presents a fascinating series on Jerusalem: the place where God meets man, the shrine of three faiths - Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and the most fought over city in history. Montefiore explains how Jerusalem - established by King David 3,000 years ago was fought for and shaped by Kings and Emperors and how the holiness of the city was intensified by myths and fables, borrowed and refined between religions. He then explores how this peerlessly beautiful city rose from a crumbling ruin after the crusades to become a world centre of Islamic pilgrimage, the object of rivalry between Christian nations, a holy refuge for Jews from all over the world and, ultimately, the site of one of the world's most intractable conflicts.
